About Kade:

Kade Garner is the Northern Utah Correspondent for ABC4 Utah and joined the ABC4 Utah news team in April 2021.

Those who helped raise Kade will say his passion for news started when he was a toddler. He used to spend hours peeking through holes in the wooden face in the backyard to see what the neighbor kids were doing.

However, Kade’s love for the news actually began as a love for spending time with his mom. As a teenager, Kade would watch the 9:00 p.m. news with his mom on weeknights. During commercial breaks, the two would talk about their day and what was pressing on their minds. At the end of the newscast, Kade would say goodnight and head off to bed. This led to him pursuing an education at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University.

While Kade attended ASU, he worked as an intern at Ability360. The organization is a nonprofit focused on bettering the lives of people who live with disabilities. As an intern, Kade wrote for the organization’s quarterly magazine. He wrote in-depth stories about people who often feel voiceless.

After graduating from ASU, Kade packed his bags and left the Sonoran Desert for the high desert in Pocatello, Idaho. He spent two years working as a reporter covering all things in eastern Idaho and western Wyoming. During that time, he covered an official visit to Grand Teton National Park by former First Lady Melania Trump, multiple mascot changes at high schools across the region, and followed the case of Lori Vallow Daybell and her missing children out of Rexburg.

Kade grew up in rural Arizona but was born in Provo. He is excited to be back in the Beehive State and is sure it will live up to all the amazing stories he heard as a kid.
